Preferences

/config opens Axiomate's interactive settings screen. It is the quickest way to review and adjust common preferences without editing config files by hand.

Open the settings screen

Run this from the input box:

/config

After the screen opens, type in the filter box to narrow the setting list. The footer shows the available actions:

  • Type text to filter settings, such as rtk or verbose.
  • Press / to scroll the setting list.
  • Press Enter to select the highlighted item.
  • Press Space to toggle a switch or cycle through values.
  • Press Esc to clear the filter or go back.

Common options

For quick-start usage, the most relevant options are:

OptionWhat it controlsSuggested use
Filter shell output (via rtk)Controls whether RTK command-output processing is enabled.Recommended for most sessions. RTK processes and truncates common command output to greatly reduce token usage. It is still experimental; if a command times out, fails unexpectedly, or omits important output, turn it off and retry.
LanguageSets the language the AI should prefer when responding. This is a text input. Enter a language name such as "Simplified Chinese" or "English". Axiomate adds this preference to the prompt so the AI tries to respond in that language.
Verbose outputControls whether more detailed output is shown by default, especially visible thinking content.Keep it off for daily use; enable it when thinking should stay visible or when troubleshooting.

Most settings are saved to the user configuration and continue to apply in later sessions.
